Ben van Oosten

Ben van Oosten is a celebrated Dutch concert organist renowned for his mastery of the French Romantic organ repertoire. Born in 1955 in The Hague, Netherlands, van Oosten studied organ at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam before furthering his education in Paris, where he immersed himself in the works of composers like Widor, Vierne, and Dupré. His deep affinity for the French symphonic organ tradition has earned him international acclaim, particularly for his extensive recordings of complete organ works by major composers such as Charles-Marie Widor, Louis Vierne, and Marcel Dupré.

Van Oosten is known for his virtuosic technique, scholarly interpretation, and dedication to authenticity, often performing on historic organs or replicas closely aligned with the instruments originally intended for the music. In addition to his busy performing and recording career, he also serves as a teacher and organist in The Hague, nurturing a new generation of organists. Over the years, his contributions to music have been recognized with honors such as the French Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
