Grrrl Gang

Grrrl Gang is an indie-pop band hailing from the cultural and academic hub of Yogyakarta, Indonesia, known for their vibrant and catchy tunes infused with a candid attitude and an unapologetically feminist ethos. The trio, formed in 2016, is made up of vocalist and guitarist Angee Sentana, bassist Edo Alventa, and drummer Akbar Rumandung. Their music draws from the spirited DNA of 90s twee pop and riot grrrl influences, yet it carries a modern sensibility that resonates with contemporary audiences. Grrrl Gang has carved out a niche in the Southeast Asian indie scene with their jangly guitar work, infectious melodies, and introspective lyrics that explore themes of romance, identity, and empowerment.

With a growing international presence, particularly after being signed with the Japanese label Damnably, Grrrl Gang has released a stream of well-received singles and EPs. Their discography includes the spunky anthem "Spunky!", the reflective "Better Than Life", the emotionally nuanced "Blue-Stained Lips", and the truth-telling "Rude Awakening". Stepping out with the blissfully defiant "Honey Baby" and the anthemic "Here To Stay!", the band's sound is a blend of youthful exuberance and contemplative depth. Their track "Dream Grrrl" further captures the essence of their dreamy yet grounded musical journey, marking them as one of the standout acts in the indie music landscape, both in their home country and across the globe.
