Leopold Hager

Leopold Hager is an Austrian conductor known for his refined interpretations of classical and early romantic repertoire, especially the works of Mozart. Born in 1935 in Salzburg, Hager studied conducting, composition, piano, and organ at the Mozarteum in his hometown. His strong affinity for Mozart’s music has made him a sought-after interpreter of the composer’s operas and symphonic works. Over the years, he has led performances with many of Europe’s leading orchestras and opera houses, earning particular recognition for his clean, elegant conducting style.

In addition to his work on stage, Hager has also made numerous recordings, many of which spotlight his expertise in 18th-century repertoire. He served as the chief conductor of the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg and later the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra.
