AJJ

AJJ, formerly known as Andrew Jackson Jihad, is an American folk-punk outfit hailing from Phoenix, Arizona. The band was formed in 2004 by lead vocalist and guitarist Sean Bonnette and bassist Ben Gallaty. Their sound is characterized by an amalgamation of punk rock energy, folk storytelling, and lyrical themes that often explore subjects like existential dread, social anxiety, and critique of contemporary issues, all laced with a darkly comedic twist. AJJ's style has become a cornerstone of the modern folk-punk genre, influencing a wave of musicians with their unapologetically raw and emotive tunes.

Over time, AJJ has built a devoted following through their relentless touring and a prolific recording ethos, releasing a series of albums and EPs that showcase their progression and versatility as artists. Notable among their recent releases, "Good Luck Everybody" (2020) reflects a shift towards more direct social commentary, capturing the angst of the era it was created in, while "The Bible 2" (2016) encapsulates their ability to blend catchy melodies with deeply introspective lyrics. AJJ's constant evolution in sound and message, as typified by tracks such as "Normalization Blues" and "Mega Guillotine 2020," ensures that they remain a resonant and distinctive voice within the indie music scene. Their live performances, including sessions like "Live At Third Man Records" and "AJJ on Audiotree Live," showcase the raw, magnetic energy that has earned the band its cult status among fans of folk-punk.
