Hyun-Jung Berger is a highly accomplished cellist originally from Seoul, South Korea. She studied under notable teachers including Prof. Hae-Guen Kang in Seoul and later with Prof. Julius Berger and Prof. Thomas Demenga in Basel. Known for her exceptional musical talent, she has won multiple international awards and has a rich performing career, often collaborating in the Duo Berger with her husband Julius Berger. Together, they have performed at distinguished festivals such as the Lockenhaus Chamber Music Festival, Kronberg Cello Festival, and Lucerne Festival, and their duo recordings have been praised for their deep musical connection and interpretive excellence.
In addition to her performing career, Hyun-Jung Berger is a dedicated educator, having taught at Mainz University and since 2008 at the Leopold Mozart Centre of Augsburg University, where she shapes the next generation of cello talents alongside her husband. She also participates in chamber music and festival projects, including the Asiago Festival in Italy, contributing to diverse musical collaborations. Her recent releases include projects with Duo Berger & Friends, showcasing her versatility and commitment to both classical and contemporary repertoire.
