Charmaine Ford

Charmaine Ford is a New Zealand-born piano virtuoso and composer who has achieved significant recognition in the music scene. Born in 1980, she began composing at the age of six and has been performing professionally since her mid-teens. Charmaine's music career is highlighted by her remarkable achievements in the jazz genre. She has released several albums, including "Blues For Guppy" and "Busy Silence," the latter winning the "Best Jazz Album 2007" award at the New Zealand Music Awards, making her the first female instrumentalist to receive this honor. Her distinctive sound combines lyrical melodies with diverse rhythms, showcasing her exceptional talent.

Charmaine has also been involved in music education, teaching at the New Zealand School of Music (Massey University) in Wellington. She has appeared in various international jazz festivals and collaborated on projects like the Ford/Tipping/Wise Trio. Her impressive career and passion for music have positioned her as one of New Zealand's most distinguished jazz musicians.
