He studied composition at Ingesunds Musikhögskola, musicology at the University of Gothenburg, and electronic music at the Institute of Sonology in Utrecht. Torstensson has lived in the Netherlands since 1973, where he has developed a diverse musical career. His compositions range from solo pieces to orchestral and electronic works, often blending modernist elements with classical traditions. His music has been featured at numerous major festivals across Europe, North America, and beyond. Notable works include *The Expedition*, *Lantern Lectures*, and *Stick on Stick*, which have been performed by prominent ensembles like the Asko Ensemble and Ensemble Intercontemporain.
