Nash Ensemble

The Nash Ensemble is one of Britain's premier chamber music groups, renowned for the breadth of its repertoire and the depth of its performances. Founded in 1964 by Amelia Freedman—who has remained at its artistic helm—the group derives its name from Nash House, where the original concerts took place. It comprises a collective of stellar musicians who come together in various sizes and combinations to perform chamber music, from duets to works for larger ensembles.

The Nash Ensemble has distinguished itself not only with its performances of classical mainstays but also by its dedication to contemporary music, having premiered many works by significant composers. This commitment is evident in their recent releases, such as "Harrison Birtwistle: Chamber Works" and "John Pickard: The Gardener of Aleppo & Other Chamber Works," demonstrating their ongoing contribution to expanding the chamber music repertoire. Moreover, their recordings cover a wide range of styles and periods, from the Romantic era melodies of Clara Schumann and Fanny Mendelssohn to the classic elegance of Mozart's Piano Quartets. The ensemble's discography is a testament to its versatility and virtuosity, showcasing their capability to deliver both new and time-honored compositions with precision and passion.
