Trans-X is a Canadian synthpop and new wave band, primarily known for their 1983 hit single "Living on Video" that became a staple track in the dance scene of the 80s. The project was created and fronted by Pascal Languirand, who started his musical career with a focus on electronic sounds in the late 1970s. Trans-X was initially a solo endeavor, and Languirand's vision came into the international spotlight with the release of "Living on Video", which achieved significant success in Europe and enjoyed cult status in clubs around North America.
The band’s sound is characterized by its heavy use of synthesizers, catchy melodies, and sci-fi inspired lyrics, which was in sync with the era's obsession with futuristic aesthetics. Although they did not manage to maintain the explosive popularity of their early years, Trans-X has remained active, continuing to produce music, perform, and influence the genre. Over the years, they have released several albums and a variety of singles. Their most recent works, such as "Das Model", "A New Life On Video", and "Psy Energy" volumes, continue to reflect Languirand's dedication to electronic music and the legacy of Trans-X. In commemoration of their enduring fan favorite, "Living on Video", Trans-X has issued various re-recordings and mixes to mark its 40th anniversary, showcasing the track's enduring appeal and the band's willingness to reinterpret their classic sound for modern audiences.
