Geoffrey Oryema was a Ugandan singer-songwriter and guitarist who blended traditional African music with Western folk and blues influences. Born in 1953, he fled his homeland during the political turmoil of the 1970s and spent many years as a refugee in Kenya and France. His music often explored themes of exile, displacement, and the search for home. Oryema's soulful vocals and evocative lyrics resonated with audiences worldwide, and he released several critically acclaimed albums throughout his career. Sadly, he passed away in 2018, leaving behind a legacy of beautiful and thought-provoking music.
