Mikhail Krug

Mikhail Krug, born Mikhail Vladimirovich Vorobyov on April 7, 1962, in Tver, Russia, was a prominent Russian chanson singer and songwriter. With his music deeply rooted in the Russian chanson genre, Krug became a voice for the everyday man, often delving into themes of love, life's hardships, and the criminal world. His stage name "Krug," meaning "circle" in Russian, was symbolic of the hope to make a full circle and return to a life of freedom, a theme reflective in his works.

Krug's music garnered massive popularity within Russia and among Russian-speaking communities worldwide. Some of his most noteworthy works include the widely recognized song "Vladimirsky Central" and the albums "Magadan" and "Kolshchik." His posthumous releases, such as "55 лет. Юбилейный альбом," "Домашние архивы (Live)," and "После третьей ходки," continue to celebrate his legacy, offering a collection of live recordings and previously unreleased tracks that resonate with the raw emotion and storytelling that characterized his career. Mikhail Krug's life was tragically cut short on June 30, 2002, when he was murdered in his home, but his music continues to live on, heralded for its poignant reflection of Russian society and its lyrical authenticity.
