Di Melo is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist known for his fusion of soul, funk, psychedelia, and traditional Brazilian music. Born Roberto de Melo Santos in Recife, Brazil, he rose to prominence in the 1970s with his self-titled debut album released in 1975, which has since become a cult classic and a favorite among crate-diggers worldwide for its unique mix of grooves and social commentary. His style blends influences ranging from James Brown and Otis Redding to samba and MPB (Música Popular Brasileira), creating a sound that’s both timeless and distinctly his own.
