The Exempt is an indie rock band from Los Angeles, California. Formed in 2016, the band consists of vocalist and guitarist Jake Hirshland, bassist and vocalist Alex Estrada, and drummer and vocalist Matt Hill. The band's sound is a blend of classic indie rock influences like The Strokes and The Velvet Underground, with a modern twist that incorporates elements of post-punk and shoegaze. Their lyrics often explore themes of love, loss, and the search for meaning in a chaotic world.
