Alejandro López Román

Alejandro López Román is a versatile Spanish composer and pianist born in Madrid in 1971. Known for his eclectic style, his music spans a wide spectrum that includes contemporary symphonic composition, jazz, film scores, and audiovisual works. He studied composition under notable teachers like Antón García Abril and Zulema de la Cruz at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid and further honed his jazz skills through scholarships that allowed him to study with various experts. Over his career, Román has composed more than eighty works ranging from piano and orchestral music to electroacoustic and pedagogical pieces, and he has been involved in the production of music for films, theater, and dance.

Román combines elements of 20th-century music, French impressionism, and expressionism with influences from popular genres such as jazz, rock, and cinematic music. His work is characterized by a fusion of classical and contemporary traditions with a distinctive sensibility and elegant style. Beyond composing, he has an academic background, earning a doctorate in philosophy where he analyzed the relationship between visual imagery and musical language, and he has been a professor at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid, where he promotes audiovisual composition research.
