Symphony X

Symphony X is an American progressive metal band hailing from Middletown, New Jersey that has carved a distinct niche in the metal genre since their formation in 1994. Founded by guitarist Michael Romeo, the band's lineup coalesced with the addition of keyboardist Michael Pinnella, drummer Jason Rullo, bassist Michael Lepond, and dynamic vocalist Russell Allen. Known for their technical proficiency, the group skillfully melds neoclassical metal elements with symphonic and operatic influences, resulting in a rich, complex sound that has garnered a dedicated global fanbase.

The band's discography showcases a penchant for epic storytelling and thematic concept albums, with works such as "The Divine Wings of Tragedy" and "V: The New Mythology Suite" achieving particular acclaim. Their 2015 album "Underworld", and its predecessor "Iconoclast" (2011), are testament to their longevity and ability to evolve, continuing to push the boundaries of progressive metal with powerful riffs, intricate compositions, and sweeping orchestral arrangements. With each release, including fan favorites like "Paradise Lost" and "The Odyssey", Symphony X has affirmed their standing as a towering presence in the metal community, combining virtuosity with a masterful command of melody and narrative.
