Progres 2

Progres 2 is a significant name in the Czech rock music scene, primarily known for their innovative blend of progressive rock, theatrical performance, and multimedia art. The band, hailing from Brno, Czechoslovakia, was formed in the late 1960s, originally under the name "The Progress Organization." They were pioneers in the progressive rock genre within the Eastern Bloc. Over the years, their style evolved, but they remained true to their experimental roots and conceptually driven compositions.

Their most acclaimed project, "Třetí kniha džunglí" (The Third Book of the Jungle), released in 1982, is an excellent showcase of their storytelling abilities through music, incorporating elements of rock opera. This particular album is known not only for its progressive sounds but also for its socio-political commentary, which was quite daring during the period of normalization in Czechoslovakia. Additionally, albums like "Dialog S Vesmírem" and "Mozek" highlight their continuous pursuit of integrating complex themes and narratives into their music, often reflecting on human existence, technology, and the cosmos. Progres 2's contribution to the Czech music landscape extends beyond their discography, as they inspired many future generations of musicians with their creativity and boldness in the face of an oppressive political climate. Their musical footprint is an embodiment of the artistic innovation that managed to thrive despite the restrictions of their time.
