Spiritbox is a Canadian heavy metal band that has rapidly garnered attention for their blend of progressive metalcore, djent, and ethereal melodies since their inception in 2016. Emerging from Vancouver Island, British Columbia, the group was formed by husband-and-wife duo, vocalist Courtney LaPlante and guitarist Michael Stringer, who had previously been members of the band Iwrestledabearonce. Together with bassist Bill Crook, they embarked on a new musical journey, navigating themes of emotion, technology, and the human condition wrapped in a shroud of heavy yet melodic soundscapes.
The band's ascent has been marked by a series of releases that showcase their dynamic range, from aggressive shredding to hauntingly beautiful atmospherics. With tracks such as "Holy Roller," which features a guest appearance from Ryo Kinoshita of Crystal Lake, the band demonstrates their ability to blend crushing riffs with visceral screams. Their debut album "Eternal Blue," which features stand-out tracks like "Constance" and "Circle With Me," was met with critical acclaim, solidifying Spiritbox's place in the metal community. Known for their emotional depth, as exemplified by the acoustic version of "Constance," a song that poignantly touches on the themes of loss and memory, they continue to push their creativity further with each new release, including "The Fear of Fear" and "Rotoscope," keeping fans eager for what's to come.
