Exploded View is a multinational band that emerged from a stroke of serendipity when UK-born Anika Henderson, known mononymously as Anika, teamed up with Mexican musicians Martin Thulin, Hugo Quezada, and Amon Melgarejo. Each of these artists brought a unique background and expertise to the table, culminating in an innovative sound characterized by Anika's dissonant, haunting vocals and a fusion of post-punk, electronic, and experimental elements.
The band's self-titled debut album "Exploded View," released in 2016 through Sacred Bones Records, announced their distinctive approach to music with a blend of atmospheric soundscapes and hypnotic rhythms. Quickly gaining traction, the group went on to release "Summer Came Early" EP which continued to showcase their penchant for blending psychedelia with socio-political undertones. In 2018, "Obey" hit the shelves, seeing the band delve deeper into their experimental roots while honing a darker, more cohesive sound. Their creativity didn't stop there as tracks like "Dark Stains," "Sleepers," and "Raven Raven" further explored the depths of their unique psyche-infused aesthetic, solidifying Exploded View's place as a compelling voice in contemporary alternative music. With their output, the group has shown a deft ability to host a sonic party that transcends geographic boundaries—even if, according to their song "No More Parties in the Attic," some of said parties may be coming to an end.
