Demons & Wizards is a power metal supergroup formed in 1999, a collaborative project that unified the talents of two significant figures in the metal sphere: vocalist Hansi Kürsch of Blind Guardian and guitarist Jon Schaffer of Iced Earth. Bonded by a mutual appreciation for each other's work, the duo set out to create a sound that combined Blind Guardian's epic melodic sensibility with Iced Earth's thrash-infused power metal. The name "Demons & Wizards" itself poignantly captures the amalgamation of dark, mystical themes and powerful, wizardly storytelling that define their music.
The band's debut self-titled album, "Demons & Wizards," was released in 2000 and was quickly followed by "Touched By The Crimson King" in 2005, both of which were met with critical acclaim within the metal community for their intricate compositions and dark fantasy themes. After a prolonged hiatus, during which fans eagerly awaited their return, Demons & Wizards released their third studio album "III" in 2020 to the delight of their dedicated following. This return to the studio rejuvenated interest in their earlier work, prompting the band to issue remastered versions of their iconic first two albums. Their discography, punctuated by their signature blend of storytelling and heavy riffs, continues to captivate audiences around the world, cementing their legacy in the annals of power metal.
