John David Kent is a talented musician and songwriter hailing from Northeast Texas, known for his rich blend of country and rock influences. Initially gaining fame as the drummer for the post-grunge band Radish in the late 1990s, he later transitioned into a solo career that showcases his heartfelt songwriting and powerful vocals. After establishing his own recording studio and label, Blackland Records, in Celeste, Texas, he released his self-titled debut album in 2011, followed by *Before the Sun Comes Up* in 2013.

After a significant hiatus, Kent made a notable return with his latest album, *Patina*, in 2023, which reflects on his Texan roots and life experiences.
