Svyatoslav Lunyov is a Ukrainian composer born on April 19, 1964, in Kyiv, Ukraine. He began his music education at seventeen, later graduating from the Kyiv State P. Tchaikovsky Conservatory where he studied composition. Since 2000, Lunyov has been a lecturer in the faculty of composition at the Music Information Technologies Department of the Kyiv Conservatory. His compositions span a wide range of genres including symphonic, chamber, choral, piano, electroacoustic music, and film scores. Notable works include *Panta Rhei*, a large-scale orchestral piece, and *Tristium*, a triptych for string orchestra. His recent projects have included electronic works like *POST* and vocal cycles based on Ukrainian poems.
Lunyov's artistic approach often explores innovative sounding and forms that blend movement and stasis. His compositions are performed by esteemed ensembles such as the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, the Camerata Kyiv Chamber Orchestra, and international groups like "MusikFabrik" from Germany. In 2017, his open-air performance *Witness* received the Bronze Cannes Lion, highlighting his creativity in unconventional settings. Lunyov continues to push the boundaries of music, creating works in diverse styles and for various mediums.
