Robert Holl

Robert Holl is a renowned Dutch bass-baritone classical singer born on March 10, 1947 in Rotterdam. He studied at the Rotterdam Conservatory and later with Hans Hotter in Munich. Holl's career took off after winning first prize at the 1971 International Vocal Competition in 's-Hertogenbosch and the 1972 ARD International Music Competition. He was a member of the Bavarian State Opera from 1973 to 1975.

Known for his versatility, Holl has performed extensively in opera, concert, and lieder recitals. He's particularly acclaimed for his interpretations of German and Russian art songs, especially the works of Franz Schubert. Holl has received numerous awards throughout his career, including being named Kammersänger of Vienna in 1990 and Knight of the Order of the Netherlands Lion in 2007. He has also served as a professor of art song and oratorio at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna since 1998.
