Matthieu Delage is a versatile and accomplished musician born in Paris in 1990. He began his musical journey under his father's guidance, before continuing at various conservatories in the Paris region, studying saxophone, piano, percussion, and clarinet. Delage further honed his skills by joining Claude Delangle's class at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where he earned a master's degree in saxophone and chamber music. His eclectic approach includes generative improvisation classes with Vincent Lê Quang and Alexandros Markeas, as well as studies in Indian music and jazz. Delage has won several competitions, including the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition with the Morphing Quartet, and often collaborates with prestigious orchestras like the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. He teaches at the conservatoire in L'Haÿ-les-Roses and regularly gives masterclasses.
Delage is also known for his innovative projects, such as his album reimagining the works of Johann Sebastian Bach, showcasing the baritone saxophone's expressive potential. His compositions and arrangements often blend classical and jazz elements, reflecting his deep interest in expanding the saxophone's repertoire.
