Angelica Selmo

Angelica Selmo is an accomplished Italian harpsichordist and pianist known for her refined interpretation of early music. She completed her piano studies with honors under R. Zadra and graduated cum laude in harpsichord from the Conservatory of Vicenza in 2014. Later, she earned a Master's degree in Interpretation of Early Music from Esmuc in Barcelona, specializing in basso continuo practice. Angelica has won several prestigious prizes, including first place at the National Arts Award in 2012 and other competitions in Italy. She has been featured widely in Italian ancient music festivals and performed on the world’s first ecologically certified harpsichord made from PEFC-certified wood.

Angelica Selmo’s recordings highlight her sensitivity and virtuosic skill, with acclaimed albums featuring composers like Henry Purcell and Pancrace Royer. Critics praise her for an impeccable approach marked by delicate ornamentation, rhythmic vitality, and expressive nuance, especially in complex French harpsichord works. Her 2021 solo album of Royer’s Pièces de clavecin received high critical acclaim for its rich detail and emotional depth. She continues to perform across Europe, emphasizing historical authenticity combined with a personal touch that brings early music to life.
