Luis Costa

Luis Costa is a Portuguese pianist known for his extensive performances across Europe, the USA, South Africa, and other regions. He began his piano studies at the age of eight with Zhuang Xiao Hua and later continued with Álvaro Teixeira Lopes. His musical journey has been influenced by collaborations with notable pianists such as J. Soriano, F. Rieger, and G. Katsarava, as well as inspiration from Maria João Pires. Luis Costa has performed in various concert halls and festivals, including the Sala Suggia of Casa da Musica and the Glenn Gould Studio. He is also active in chamber music, often performing with his brother, cellist Fernando Costa. Recently, he released an album titled "Musíadas 1.0," which explores rarely played works by Portuguese composers like Luiz Costa and Cláudio Carneyro.

Luis Costa's career is marked by a blend of classical performances and educational activities. He has taught masterclasses in several countries and has been involved in various music festivals as an artistic director. His recent projects include exploring jazz and composition, such as performing live original music for the movie "The Lodger" by Hitchcock. His dedication to promoting Portuguese music is evident in his collaborations with orchestras like the Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras.
