Sjaak Bral

Sjaak Bral, born Marcel van der Heijden on November 11, 1963, in The Hague, is a celebrated Dutch cabaret artist, comedian, writer, and television presenter known for his sharp wit and rapid-fire delivery. He began his career in the early '90s with appearances on radio and TV, adopting the stage name Sjaak Bral in 1995 to give his act a unique identity. Since 1996, he has become famous for his annual "oudejaarsconference" (New Year's Eve show) titled *Vaarwel*, blending humor and social commentary, which has been a staple in Dutch theater and broadcasted on TV West. Over the years, he has toured extensively, created multiple theater programs, released albums like *Liedjes van Vaarwel* and *Hurken in de berm*, and contributed as a columnist and radio host. His style is characterized by a distinctive high tempo of speaking and singing, infusing comedy with a personal and local touch rooted in his Hague background.
