Sir Jude Nnam, also known as Ancestor, is a celebrated Nigerian Catholic composer, keyboardist, and choral conductor originating from Enugu South in Enugu State, Nigeria. His musical journey began early in his local church choir where he mastered multiple instruments, including the organ and keyboard. He is a graduate of music from both the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and Trinity College of Music in London. Sir Jude is prolific in his craft, having composed thousands of original pieces and arrangements in a remarkable array of languages such as English, Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, and even Chinese, among others. His influence is particularly strong within Catholic Church music circles in Nigeria and internationally.
He gained notable recognition for conducting the “Papal Choir of a Thousand Voices” during Pope John Paul II's visit to Nigeria in 1998 and has collaborated with prominent Nigerian musicians like Frank Edwards and Prof Dan Agu. Sir Jude also serves as the National Music Director for the National Catholic Liturgical Music Council of Nigeria and is highly sought after for choral training and worship songwriting worldwide. In 2017, he was endorsed as a Yamaha artist for keyboard products, further cementing his position as a leading figure in gospel music.
