Ben Watt

Ben Watt is a British musician, DJ, record producer, and author, well regarded for his multi-faceted contributions to the music industry. His career started in the early 1980s as a folk-jazz artist, exemplified by his debut solo project, "North Marine Drive" (1983), which showcased his reflective songwriting and acoustic sensibilities. Notably, these early works included "Summer into Winter," an EP that further solidified his place as a thoughtful composer able to blend genres seamlessly.

However, Watt is perhaps best known for his partnership with Tracey Thorn in the band Everything But The Girl (EBTG), which gained international acclaim in the 1980s and 1990s with their sophisticated fusion of pop, electronica, and jazz. After EBTG went on hiatus, Watt turned his focus to DJing and electronic music production, founding the influential label Buzzin' Fly and releasing critically lauded remixes and tracks like "Guinea Pig" and its accompanying remixes. In recent years, Watt has revisited his singer-songwriter roots with a return to acoustic and folk-influenced sounds, as heard in his albums "Hendra" (2014) and "Fever Dream" (2016). Throughout his solo career, he has continued to evolve and diversify his sound, demonstrated by his latest releases such as "Storm Damage" (2020) and its introspective EP counterpart, "Storm Shelter" (2021). His musical journey has been marked by constant reinvention, introspective lyricism, and an undiminished passion for exploring new sonic territories.
