Rembrandt Frerichs is a versatile Dutch pianist, composer, and musician known for his innovative approach to blending jazz, classical, and Middle Eastern music. He grew up in a musical environment, literally raised in his father's music shop south of Rotterdam, where he began playing piano, organ, and learning other instruments like trumpet and drums. His journey as a composer began after encouragement from colleagues who appreciated his music, leading him to study at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and later in New York City. Rembrandt has made a name for himself by integrating improvisational elements into classical music, as seen in his recent works like the "Piano Concertos Nos. 1 & 2," which feature a blend of jazz and classical influences. He is also known for his work with the Rembrandt Trio, featuring bassist Tony Overwater and percussionist Vinsent Planjer, and has performed internationally, including at the North Sea Jazz Festival.
