Alan Abrahams

Alan Abrahams, also known as Portable and Bodycode, is a South African electronic music producer and live performer. He grew up in post-apartheid Cape Town, where the indigenous sounds of his youth heavily influenced his musical style. Abrahams began his career in the late 1990s, relocating to London in 1997 where he started recording as Portable. His music blends atmospheric electronica with African-inspired rhythms, creating a unique sound that bridges his heritage and contemporary electronic music.

Throughout his career, Abrahams has released music on notable labels such as Perlon, ~scape, and Ghostly International. He's known for his live performances and has lived in various cities including Lisbon, Berlin, and Paris, each influencing his artistic development. Abrahams has received critical acclaim for albums like "Into Infinity" and tracks such as "Surrender," which was featured on DJ Koze's highly regarded DJ-Kicks mix in 2015.
