All is an American punk rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1987. Emerging in the wake of the legendary punk outfit Descendents, All was conceptualized by members Bill Stevenson, Karl Alvarez, and Stephen Egerton, when Descendents' lead singer, Milo Aukerman, left the band to pursue a career in biochemistry. Rather than simply dissolving, the trio continued under the new moniker All, which embraced the philosophy of "All" or total commitment to their work, ideals, and the intense energy required for their fast-paced music.
Throughout their extensive musical career, All has been known for their speed-driven melodies, complex rhythms, and introspective lyrics, contributing to the evolution of the punk genre with a more technical and melodic sound. Their early works, such as "Allroy's Revenge" and "Allroy Saves," established their unique identity in the punk scene and honed the All sound, influencing a new wave of punk rock music. While they've cycled through various lead singers, including Dave Smalley, Scott Reynolds, and Chad Price, the band has maintained a consistent ethos. All has released numerous albums and singles, such as "Problematic" and "Mass Nerder," and are revered for both their studio projects and electric live performances, evidenced by recordings like "Live Plus One." Even as they crossed over into the new millennium, All remained uncompromising in their style and dedication, continuing to resonate with punk aficionados and maintaining a notable presence in the genre's history.
