Steve Mahabir

Steve Mahabir is a Canadian singer-songwriter and musician known for his distinctive approach to rock music. He first emerged in the music scene as a co-founder of the alt-rock band Groovy Religion in the 1980s. Since then, he has built a solo career marked by compelling storytelling and a raw, authentic sound. His 2015 concept album *Angel in Parkdale* is a gripping narrative inspired by real-life people, showcasing his talent for blending narrative depth with rock sensibilities.

More recently, Mahabir released the single "Go To Hell" in June 2025 as the lead from his second solo album, *Peace Love War & Hate*. The track features collaborations with notable Toronto musicians including John Borra on bass and Michael Buguski on keyboards, and it was produced with involvement from Grammy winner Peter J. Moore and renowned Rush producer Terry Brown. Mahabir’s work continues to resonate in the Toronto alt-rock scene, combining thoughtful lyrics with rich, melodic instrumentation.
