Better Than Ezra

Better Than Ezra is an American alternative rock band formed in 1988 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The band, originally consisting of Kevin Griffin (vocals and guitar), Joel Rundell (guitar), Tom Drummond (bass), and Cary Bonnecaze (drums), first gained major popularity with their 1995 hit single "Good" from their platinum album "Deluxe," which was initially released independently in 1993 before catching the attention of major labels. Despite the tragic loss of founding member Rundell to suicide in 1990, the band persevered, with the remaining members continuing to create and perform. Over the years, they have experienced changes in their lineup; notably, drummer Travis McNabb joined in 1996 and contributed to the band's sound until his departure in 2009.

With a music career spanning over three decades, Better Than Ezra has released a number of albums and EPs that showcase their ability to blend catchy melodies with thoughtful lyrics. Albums like "Friction, Baby" (1996) and "Closer" (2001) solidified their presence in the alt-rock scene. The band's more recent projects include the reflective "Paper Empire" (2009) and the "Death Valley EP" (2014), which continue to exhibit their evolving sound. Known for their dynamic live performances, Better Than Ezra has successfully maintained a loyal fan base over the years, staying relevant in the ever-changing music industry through both their recorded work, such as the contemplative tracks "Absolutely Still" and "GRATEFUL," and their energetic concerts.
