Naomi Shemer was an Israeli singer-songwriter, poet, and composer. She is best known for her song "Jerusalem of Gold," which became an anthem for the city after the Six-Day War in 1967. Shemer wrote over 1,000 songs, many of which have become Israeli classics. Her songs often dealt with themes of love, nature, and the Israeli experience. Shemer was born in Kibbutz Kinneret in 1930 and died in Tel Aviv in 2004.
