Johannes Pietsch, known by his stage name **JJ**, is an Austrian singer and songwriter who burst onto the international music scene by winning the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with his song "Wasted Love." Born on April 29, 2001, in Vienna to an Austrian father and Filipino mother, JJ spent most of his childhood in Dubai, where he was introduced to both pop music through family karaoke nights and classical opera through his father—influences that would shape his distinctive pop-opera sound. He's a trained sopranist capable of hitting incredibly high notes, and his powerful, expressive voice seamlessly blends operatic elements with contemporary pop sensibilities.

JJ's musical journey began in 2020 when he competed on *The Voice UK*, advancing to the Knockouts with coach will.i.am, followed by an appearance on Austria's *Starmania* competition the next year. He went on to study at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna and the opera school of the Vienna State Opera. His Eurovision victory was historic—he became the first Eurovision winner of Southeast Asian descent and the first solo Eurovision winner born in the 2000s and 21st century, scoring a total of 436 points.
