Sam Kidel is a Bristol-based composer, producer, and music teacher known for his experimental approach to ambient and electronic music. He has a background in composition and sonic art, having completed his Masters at Oxford Brookes University in 2015. Kidel's work often explores the intersection of ambient textures, sound art, and socio-political themes, particularly critiquing technology and capitalist systems. Notably, his album *Disruptive Muzak* used field recordings and phone calls with call center workers to create a unique commentary on modern labor. He is also known for projects like *Silicon Ear*, which employs architectural and acoustic modeling to simulate music as if performed inside a Google data center, blending generative algorithms and conceptual sound design. Kidel has been involved with Bristol’s experimental music scene through groups like Young Echo and Killing Sound, and he currently teaches at the British and Irish Modern Music Institute in Bristol.
