Pelican Daughters

Pelican Daughters is a Sydney-based experimental music project founded in 1984 by Justin Brandis and Andy Rantzen. Known for their inventive use of a wide variety of instruments, found objects, and DIY tape loops, the duo crafted a distinctive sound often described as lo-fi and avant-garde. Over time, the lineup expanded to include several other members, fostering a collaborative atmosphere. Their work includes cassette-only releases in the early days and albums like *Bliss* and *Fishbones & Wishbones*, showcasing their unique approach to electronic and experimental music.

Andy Rantzen, one of the founding members, is also recognized for his solo career and involvement with other electronic acts like Itch-E and Scratch-E. Pelican Daughters remains an intriguing part of the Sydney music scene, praised for pushing boundaries and exploring sonic textures with an inventive DIY spirit.
