The Replacements are an American rock band hailing from Minneapolis, Minnesota, who were pivotal in shaping the alternative rock and punk scenes of the 1980s. Formed in 1979, the band initially consisted of vocalist and guitarist Paul Westerberg, guitarist Bob Stinson, bassist Tommy Stinson, and drummer Chris Mars. Renowned for their chaotic live performances and the raw, emotion-laden songwriting of Westerberg, The Replacements carved out a legacy that has influenced countless bands that followed.
Their music evolved from fast, rebellious punk to a more varied sound that embraced power pop, rock, and heartfelt ballads, all underpinned by a rebellious, restless spirit. Critical and cult favorites, their discography includes seven studio albums, among which "Let It Be" and "Tim" are often cited as classics. Despite disbanding in 1991, The Replacements’ music has endured, and their influence can be seen throughout the alternative rock genre. The band briefly reunited in 2012, with a tour and the release of a covers EP. Their most recent releases include deluxe editions and remastered tracks, such as those found on "Pleased To Meet Me (Deluxe Edition)" and "Dead Man's Pop," which offer a deeper dive into their storied catalog for both new and longtime fans.
