Denis & Denis, a seminal electro-pop band, left a distinct mark on the former Yugoslav music scene, primarily during the 1980s. The Croatian duo, hailing from Rijeka, was initially formed by keyboardist and songwriter Davor Tolja alongside vocalist Marina Perazić in 1982, with Saša Fajt, later on, contributing as the drummer. Their sound, characterized by its synthesizer-driven melodies and catchy pop sensibilities, quickly became emblematic of the vibrant new wave movements of Eastern Europe. Their debut album, "Čuvaj se!" released in 1984, included the hit "Program tvog kompjutera," which catapulted them to fame.
In the years that followed, Denis & Denis enjoyed considerable success and released several more albums, which included prominent tracks like "Ja sam lažljiva" and "Vol i ptic(a) grud(a)." Although the group disbanded in 1985, their legacy persisted. After a prolonged hiatus, they experienced a resurgence with Marina Perazić's return and the release of new material, such as "Restart" in 2013, showing their ability to adapt to contemporary sounds while staying true to their signature style. The band's influence endures in the region and among fans of the genre, as they continue to perform and present new works, maintaining a connection to their new wave roots and their '80s legacy.
