Bajofondo

Bajofondo is a musical collective that blends traditional tango with electronic music, often referred to as "electrotango." Founded by Argentine producer and Academy Award-winning composer Gustavo Santaolalla along with Uruguayan musician Juan Campodónico, the group brings together artists from across the Río de la Plata region. Bajofondo's music is rooted in the rich cultural history of Argentina and Uruguay but is given a modern twist with electronic beats, rock, hip-hop, and other contemporary styles.

Their debut album, Bajofondo Tango Club (2002), was a breakout success, garnering both critical acclaim and a Latin Grammy. Over the years, the group has evolved beyond the "tango" label, opting to simply go by Bajofondo, a reflection of their increasingly eclectic and genre-defying sound. Known for high-energy live performances and cinematic music, Bajofondo has continued to push boundaries while staying true to the visceral emotion and sophistication of their roots.
