Roberto González-Monjas

Roberto González-Monjas is a highly acclaimed Spanish violinist and conductor, born in Valladolid, Spain, in 1988. He studied at Salzburg's Mozarteum University with Igor Ozim and at London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama with David Takeno. González-Monjas has held significant positions, including Chief Conductor of the Musikkollegium Winterthur in Switzerland and Chief Conductor and Artistic Advisor of Sweden's Dalasinfoniettan. He is also the Principal Guest Conductor of the Belgian National Orchestra and Music Director of the Orquesta Iberacademy in Colombia. His collaborations include work with prominent orchestras such as the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra, and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.

González-Monjas is known for his dynamic leadership and passion for education. He co-founded Iberacademy with conductor Alejandro Posada to promote musical education in Latin America. His performances and recordings span a wide range of repertoire, including works by Bach, Mozart, and Schoeck. He plays a 1710 violin by Giuseppe Guarneri, supported by the Rychenberg Foundation. González-Monjas' recent appointments include becoming Music Director of the Galicia Symphony Orchestra in Spain and Chief Conductor of the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg, starting in 2024.
