Monolake

Monolake is an electronic music project that initially emerged from the vibrant Berlin techno scene in the mid-1990s, founded by Gerhard Behles, Robert Henke, and initially with Torsten Pröfrock as part of the lineup. Over the years, Monolake evolved into primarily a solo venture of Robert Henke, an artist renowned for his contributions to electronic music both as a composer and a software developer. Henke's deep understanding of sound design and digital music production has given Monolake a distinctive sound, characterized by its meticulous textures, complex rhythms, and an atmosphere that oscillates between the cerebral and the visceral.

Throughout its evolution, Monolake has released a plethora of albums, singles, and EPs that have been critical in shaping the trajectory of minimal techno and experimental electronic music. Notable recent releases such as "Archaeopteryx," "Gobi (The Long Edit 2020)," and "VLSI" showcase the project's continued innovation and relevance in the electronic music landscape. Monolake's music is not merely about dance tracks; it is an exploration of sound possibilities, often incorporating spatial sound technologies and immersive live performances. Henke, through Monolake and his other ventures, remains a pivotal figure in the electronic music community, bridging the gap between artistic expression and technological advancement.
