Los Aldeanos is a Cuban hip-hop group known for their socially conscious lyrics and raw portrayal of Cuban life. Formed in 2003, in Havana, by founders Aldo Roberto Rodríguez Baquero (known as "Aldo") and Bian Oscar Rodríguez Gala (known as "El B"), the group quickly gained a reputation for their hard-hitting commentary on social issues, which often brought them into conflict with Cuban authorities.
Throughout their career, Los Aldeanos have remained staunchly independent, working outside of the state-controlled music industry in Cuba. Their music is characteristically raw and direct, with topics addressing poverty, government corruption, censorship, and the struggles of everyday life in Cuba. Despite—or perhaps because of—their confrontational stance, they have amassed a large following both within Cuba and among the Cuban diaspora. Their most recent releases, such as "No Le Tengo Miedo" and "Estamos En El Medio De La Calle," continue to show their commitment to their artistic integrity and their willingness to tackle controversial issues head-on. Their discography, which includes "Abajo Como Hace Tres Febreros" and "Descato," showcases their evolution as artists while maintaining their signature frankness and dedication to truth-telling in their music.
