The Great Kat (born Katherine Thomas) is a Juilliard-trained shred guitarist and classically influenced extreme metal artist who's carved out a truly unique niche. Known for her lightning-fast neoclassical guitar work, theatrical dominatrix persona, and radical reinterpretations of classical compositions, she's been blending Beethoven with brutality since the late 1980s. Her recent releases like "Schubert's Erlkönig Mosh" and "Hillbilly Shreds Beethoven Mozart Verdi" showcase her signature style – imagine if Paganini joined Slayer and decided to rewrite national anthems and folk songs with distortion pedals cranked to 11. While her shock-metal aesthetic (complete with whip-wielding album art) isn't for everyone, her technical virtuosity and unapologetic fusion of baroque complexity with thrash metal intensity have earned her cult status in the extreme music world.
