**Mú Carvalho** is a Brazilian **composer, pianist, keyboardist, arranger, and music producer** born on June 8, 1957, in Rio de Janeiro. He launched his musical career at just 16 years old and quickly made his mark on the Brazilian music scene. In 1975, he co-founded the influential band **A Cor do Som** alongside his brother Dadi (bassist), and the group became known for hits like "Sapato Velho" (1976) and "Semente do Amor" (1980). Beyond his work with the band, Mú has collaborated with some of Brazil's biggest names—including Chico Buarque, Jorge Ben Jor, Gilberto Gil, Alceu Valença, and Legião Urbana—both as a sideman and as a composer.
Throughout his career, Mú has worn many hats as a multi-talented musician and producer. His first solo album, *Meu Continente Encontrado* (1985), was produced by the legendary Egberto Gismonti and featured collaborations with top-tier musicians. He's also made a significant mark composing for film and television soundtracks in Brazil, and has released numerous solo albums that showcase his skills as a songwriter and arranger. His more recent work includes albums like *Trem das Cores* (2022), a tribute to Caetano Veloso, and *O Mundo é o Meu Jardim* (2025), his eighth solo album featuring nine original compositions. With A Cor do Som still maintaining its original lineup after nearly 50 years, Mú remains a vital force in Brazilian music.
