Atvars Lakstigala

Atvars Lakstigala is a renowned Latvian conductor and former professional French horn player. Born on May 16, 1981, he developed his musical foundation at the Jazeps Vitols Latvian Academy of Music, where he graduated as a French horn player and conductor. From 1997 to 2010, Lakstigala performed as a French hornist in various orchestras and was the assistant principal French horn player at the Latvian National Opera Orchestra from 2001 to 2010. His conducting career gained momentum with his debut in 2009 at the Latvian National Opera, and he has been recognized for his work as a guest conductor there.

Lakstigala served as the chief conductor of the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra from 2010 to 2017. He further honed his conducting skills at the Berlin University of the Arts with Professor Lutz Koehler. His recent engagements have included performances with the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra, showcasing a variety of repertoire including symphonies and concerti.
