CRYSTALKING

CRYSTAL KING (often stylized as クリスタルキング) is a Japanese pop-rock band that carved out a niche in the 1980s with their energetic synth-driven sound and anime tie-ins. Formed in 1981 around vocalist Mibuna Tadokoro, the group became synonymous with the era’s city pop and J-rock vibes. They’re best known for their fist-pumping anthem “愛をとりもどせ!!” (“Ai wo Torimodose!!”), which served as the opening theme for the iconic anime *Fist of the North Star*, catapulting them to national fame.

While their disco-flavored tracks like “瀬戸内行進曲 (IN THE MOOD)” and “Moon” showcased their versatility, CRYSTAL KING’s music often blended punchy keyboards with Tadokoro’s distinct vocals. Though the band officially disbanded in 1987, their catalog—including compilations like *ポプコン スーパー・セレクション*—remains a nostalgic time capsule of ‘80s J-pop culture, with recent releases like *3秒の誘惑* and reimagined versions of their classics keeping their legacy alive for new generations.
