Wild Cherry was an American funk and soul band formed in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1971. The band is best known for their 1976 hit single "Play That Funky Music," which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Wild Cherry released several other successful singles, including "I Feel Sanctified" and "Show Me." The band broke up in 1980, but they reunited in 1999 and have continued to perform and record music since then.
