Senseless Things

Senseless Things were a British punk-influenced indie rock band that emerged in the late 1980s and found popularity in the early '90s. Formed in London in 1986, the band consisted of Mark Keds on vocals and guitar, Ben Harding on guitar, Morgan Nicholls on bass, and Cass Browne on drums. Known for their energetic sound and catchy hooks, they became a beloved part of the UK alternative scene, particularly with their 1991 album The First of Too Many, which featured standout tracks like “Easy to Smile.”

Senseless Things gained a strong following thanks in part to their relentless touring schedule and politically charged, socially conscious lyrics. Their artwork often featured illustrations by comic artist Jamie Hewlett, who would later gain fame for co-creating Gorillaz. After releasing several albums and a series of successful singles, the band initially disbanded in the mid-1990s, with members going on to other projects, including Keds’ work with The Wildhearts and Morgan Nicholls’ collaborations with Muse and Lily Allen. Senseless Things briefly reunited for shows in the 2010s, revisiting their legacy with long-time fans. Sadly, frontman Mark Keds passed away in 2021.
