Rún

Rún is an Irish experimental heavy band formed by three accomplished musicians: vocalist and visual artist Tara Baoth Mooney, producer and sound designer Rían Trench, and avant-garde collaborator Diarmuid MacDiarmada. Their music blends psychedelia, drone rock, folk, noise, and heavy grooves into immersive soundscapes that evoke mystery, love, and the obscure, much like the meaning of their band name in Irish. Known for their use of improvisation and eclectic influences—from acid folk and cosmic jazz to stoner metal and avant-garde composers—Rún’s debut self-titled album, released in August 2025 on Rocket Recordings, offers a richly atmospheric journey into dark, emotionally charged territories.

The trio recorded the album at The Meadows studio in Ireland, tapping into deep, spiritually inspired themes like dreams and synchronicities. Songs like "Terror Moon" showcase their intense, long-form explorations that balance delicate vocals with heavy drone and experimental textures. Rún represents a compelling collaboration of diverse Irish artists known for pushing boundaries in their respective fields, coming together to create a uniquely intense and transcendent listening experience.
